September 11th, the second call of the Geodata for Agriculture and Water (G4AW) programme was
launched in The Hague. More than 140 participants attended the event.
Representatives of NGOs, companies from the agriculture, water- and information sector and financial institutions
showed interest in participating in the G4AW programme. During the event, the importance of inclusive
business and ‘reaching the Last Mile’ were emphasized together with the conditions of developing a
strong business case.
In the official kick-off the policy rules of the second call have been explained. Like the previous call, the
point of focus is the use of information services to improve sustainable food production in developing
countries and subsequently use available resources as efficiently as possible. Implementing information
technologies furthermore opens new markets and opportunities for international partnerships.
